For one-year Colin Beavan and his family UNPLUGGED. During that period they went without electricity, produced virtually no trash, traveled almost exclusively by foot or bike, and ate nothing except locally grown food.
By the end they discovered something surprising: Living simply, wasn’t just something good for environment; it made them… VIEW THE MOVIE AND FIND OUT.

What would it be like to try to live a no-impact lifestyle?
Is it possible?
Is living this way more worthwhile?
Can our culture reduce the barriers to sustainable living?
These are some of the questions at the heart of this whole mad endeavor, via which the Beavan family explains to the rest of us how we can realistically live a more “eco-effective” and in turn a more contented life in an age of inconvenient truths.

We offer classes as well as seminars, weekend retreats and the Love and Light Conference (in the fall). Student inquiries welcome!
It is our goal to bring in teachers, facilitators and motivational speakers on a diverse array of subjects that will broaden each participant's mind and experience in order for each one to take that wisdom home and apply it to their personal lives and circles of friends and family.

We offer courses and seminars for different age categories:
- Indigo College ages 13 and over
- Crystal College age 9 to 12
- Rainbow College ages 4 to 8

Are you a healer or facilitator with an expertise to share?
The Southwest Light and Learning Center is seeking teachers and therapists who wish to present their knowledge and abilities, either through classes or seminars and retreats. To apply, print out the teacher application. For more information, please contact the Director.
